3D Lute

I made this lute as a way to practice and improve my 3D creation skill.

I started by looking up some reference images to get an idea of the shape and texture of this musical instrument. Then, I replicated the lute from these reference photos to a full 3D mesh in Blender. Next, I created the base materials in Substance Designer and tried to reproduce the wood textures and intricacies as well as I could. Once the base materials finished, I imported the mesh in Substance Painter to start applying them to the 3D model and refine the normal, glossy and AO maps. Finally, I brought the model back into Blender where I could set up the scene for a final render.
